EMERSION: Duncan Dance Research Centre

Architecture & choreography performance – Acropolis & New Acropolis Museum study.

ΑΝΑΔΥΣΗ ους.θ [ANADISI] /EMERSION: The (noun) has 2 senses:
1. (astronomy) the reappearance of a celestial body after an eclipse
2. The act of emerging.ΑΝΑΔΥΣΗ / EMERSION (2011), is a multi-media performance event & exhibition.

The project completes a trilogy of works, (Urban Trajectories & SKIN 2010), and is part of a doctoral investigation of choreography and architecture. The interdisciplinary research practice interrogates the sites of the Ancient Acropolis and New Acropolis Museum, Athens. Inspired by the historical and contemporary city, the missing Caryatid unravels (in her-dance) the story of a past and contemporary city. An immersive exhibition event includes a choreographic urban design proposal which responds to human social experience of urban public space. The project was supported by the Duncan Dance Research Centre, responding to its unique architectural context.
