A Poster for The Worlds Between Us

The Worlds Between Us is a rare three-day opportunity to explore how shared space begins to make meaning—before a story is written, an idea is explained, or a group agrees on what it is making.

Taking place across Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday in Athens, the workshop offers participants entrance into the embodied practice of Spatial Narrative. Rather than treating space as a neutral setting, it asks people to experience it as an active partner: something that shapes attention, relationship, permission, memory, and action. The work is especially valuable for artists, educators, designers, facilitators, and others who bring people together, because it offers a way to work with the conditions beneath content—the often-unspoken arrangements that determine what a group can notice, imagine, or do.

The learning begins through experience rather than explanation. Friday creates the conditions for the group to arrive, settle, and begin paying attention together. Through movement, observation, and shared practice, attention widens from the self to a partner and then to the whole room. Participants do not need to perform, disclose personal material, or arrive with specialist knowledge. They encounter how distance, rhythm, objects, pathways, and the movement of others alter what feels possible. This first encounter establishes a central principle for the whole weekend: every action changes the field for someone else.

From there, the workshop moves from embodied discovery to practical design. Participants use the Five Shapes, Four Dimensions of Space, and Four Actions of Space as working tools rather than abstract theories. They learn to identify patterns in bodies, relationships, stories, and environments; to build worlds from designed conditions before adding plot; and to test those worlds through the responses of others. They also explore how an unseen presence—an absence, memory, expectation, or imagined force—can reorganize a room through gaze, pace, breath, hesitation, routes, and thresholds.

The final work makes collective imagination accountable. As movement material passes between people, the group considers what may transform, what must be protected, what should remain private, and what may be carried forward. Participants leave not with a finished performance or a fixed formula, but with a changed way of seeing. They gain a practical language for reading a room, tools for designing playable and participatory worlds, and a clearer understanding of how attention, permission, consequence, and care can become part of the work itself.
